Quarterly Allowances
The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) shall determine, for each quarter of a calendar year starting from the year 2017, an allowance payable to each eligible registered entity.
With the enactment of Bill 220, Election Finances Amendment Act (Quarterly Allowances), 2024 on November 19, 2024, the payment of quarterly allowances will cease on December 31, 2026.
Political Parties
A quarterly allowance is payable to a registered party whose candidates in the last election before the current quarter received at least:
- two per cent of the number of valid votes cast; or
- five per cent of the number of valid votes cast in the electoral districts in which the registered party endorsed a candidate.
The quarterly allowance is calculated by multiplying the quarterly rate by the number of valid votes a party’s candidates received in the previous general election. The quarterly rate for 2025 is $0.636.

Constituency Associations
A quarterly allowance is assigned to each electoral district which is shared amongst registered constituency associations based on the percentage of the valid votes that their party’s candidate received in the last election. Quarterly Allowances are paid to registered constituency associations if they meet the following eligibility criteria:
- A party's candidate must have received at least 2% of the valid votes cast for that party’s constituency association to qualify for the allowance.
- An allowance is only payable to a registered constituency association for a quarter if all documents that it was required to file with Elections Ontario in the four-year period immediately before the quarter have been filed and are complete.
For 2024, a quarterly amount of $4,879.17 is assigned to each electoral district which is shared amongst associations based on the percentage of the valid votes their party candidate received in the last election.
For 2023, a quarterly amount of $7,318.75 is assigned to each electoral district which is shared amongst associations based on the percentage of the valid votes their party candidate received in the last election.
For 2022, a quarterly amount of $6,818.75 is assigned to each electoral district which is shared amongst associations based on the percentage of the valid votes their party candidate received in the last election.
For 2021, a quarterly amount of $6,250 is assigned to each electoral district which is shared amongst associations based on the percentage of the valid votes their party candidate received in the last election.
For 2020, a quarterly amount of $6,600 was assigned to each electoral district which is shared amongst associations based on the percentage of the valid votes their party candidate received in the last election.
For 2019, a quarterly amount of $6,475 was assigned to each electoral district which is shared amongst associations based on the percentage of the valid votes their party candidate received in the last election.
For 2018, a quarterly amount of $6,362.50 was assigned to each electoral district which is shared amongst associations based on the percentage of the valid votes their party candidate received in the last election.
For 2017, a quarterly amount of $6,250 was assigned to each electoral district which is shared amongst associations based on the percentage of the valid votes their party candidate received in the last election.
